About Tyler Jordan Soucy – Documentary Wedding Photographer

Black and white self-portrait of CT and NY documentary wedding photographer Tyler Jordan Soucy.

The most meaningful photos happen when no one knows they’re being taken…Before documenting weddings, my journey began with street photography and behind-the-scenes work on film sets—two observational disciplines that taught me how to anticipate moments and the value of staying present. That's where I discovered my love for photography that’s grounded in humanity—vulnerable, joyful, messy, and perfect.

It wasn’t until photographing my first wedding that I realized traditional wedding photography wasn’t a necessity—it was just a choice. One that many people assume has already been made for them.

But the thing about choices? They’re your own. They’re where you have the power to embrace what you truly want—what makes you, you.

Without guidance, weddings already have this undeniable kinetic energy—one that’s impossible to imitate. As photographers, we can choose to interrupt it, direct it, and wait for it to rebuild—or nurture it, stay present with it, and trust the process.

After all, to be loved is to be vulnerable—and as a documentary photographer, I can’t think of anything more bold or more beautiful to put my trust in.

If this resonates with you, let’s chat—I’d love to learn more about you and your wedding plans.
